Monster Party Printable Invite

I asked my almost four year old what theme he wanted for his birthday party, after a great debate, with himself, he settled on Monsters.
As I am obsessed with diy and I love the party printables on etsy I decided to have a go myself at making up a monster invite. Now all the ones on etsy feature a digital image of a monster. Problem #1. I'm not very good at drawing. Problem#2 I wanted mine to be a little different. So with my sons stack of craft paper and his scissors I cut out some rough monster bodies and then cut out some feet, hair or horns, eyes, mouth and of course some teeth. Stuck all bits together with my scrapbooking tape and four monsters were born. I was actually pretty happy with the result, so I scanned them into my outdated photoshop elements 2.0 and created his invite, which led to creating three more invites.
This was all in all pretty quick and easy to make but if you lack time you can purchase the ones I made at my etsy amd madeit shops.

Roses and Butterfies exploding box

A birthday explosion box for my Mother in Law. She loves roses and bright pink.

I made the butterfly from Tim Holtz die cut and the flower from his tattered florals die. The lid has a vintage image which I photoshoped and typed Happy Birthday on it. I then glimmer misted the entire lid and glued on a pink rose trim around edge.

The box stands 6 inches high and is made from textured cardstock and scrapbook paper.

When opened out springs little butterflies flying around another tim holtz flower die with a pearl button center.

The box has only one center page as I just needed enough space for information on roses.
The first side has another vintage tag that I edited in Photoshop and information on roses in art.
The second page has a pocket with a pull out tag and vintage image and again more info on roses.
The tag I distressed with Tim Holtz ink and I used glossy accents on the rose bud.
The third page has more vintage rose images and information.

There is a butterfly that I cut from an old piece of DCWV cardstock stuck in the middle inside of the third page.
The last page has another pocket and again more vintage images.
Another photo of the flying butterflies.
A close up of the butterfly, It has three layers, the top is glittered scrapbook paper and then there are vellum papers underneath to give it a bit more body.

Explosion boxes on madeit

Its been months since I got crafty for my little online store. Between a one year old who is still waking up three times a night and a almost four year old testing the boundaries plus getting ready for a tree change...its been busy. But getting crafty is my stress relief, especially with a nice hot cup of Milo.
Here are a few of my new explosion boxes, made with scraps of paper I loved too much to throw in the recycle bin. The base for the boxes is recycled Australian cardstock.

They can be purchased at my shop

Fairy Party Costume, Wings and Upcycled Tattered Skirt

My costume for my Thirtieth Fairy Party. I made the wings and skirt. Face painting was done by Lynne Jamieson at FaceMagicBodyArtist.
Skirt was made from fabric remnants from Spotlight, including silk, chiffon and cotton, a dress I brought from the Salvos that ended up being too small after second pregnancy and old curtain lace. A while ago I saw a tattered skirt and loved the idea so this was my first attempt at one. The pieces are attached to another skirt of mine with safety pins as I didn't have enough time to sew the pieces together before my party. After getting over the initial panic of cutting up a perfectly good dress, I loved creating this skirt and do have plans to finish it and maybe make a few more.
A great way to upcycle your old clothes into something that you will want to wear.

Life is certainly busy with two little boys, but in between nappies, house cleaning, playing loungeroom and feeding bottomless stomachs I do manage to get a little craft done each day. So, playing catch up now here are some new additions to my little online shops.

"Here's another bead Mum!"

There are beads all over my kitchen table and it happens that quite a few get accidently knocked to the floor. Alex's eyesight is much keener than mine and he has been enjoying discovering beads on the floor, its a frequent mini treasure hunt here lately.

So here is what I have been doing with these beads.

Charm dangles!

I brought some of 7gypsies dangles to go on a paper bag album and love them, so of course I wanted to make my own. My first two creations are below and are up on madeit now.
